My 2 Babies

JoJo or as you would say it "My name is Josephine Ohl Hai Tang". I'm not going to sugar coat it...you have become a pain in the butt! terrible threes? You whine about everything we ask you to do, after whining comes crying. Sometimes your bedtime can't come soon enough, but you are still the funniest, sweetest, Babae and only a pain 20% of the time.  3 more months till you turn 4! Here are some current highlights:
1. You just switched over from the crib to a big girls bed. Yeah, it's hard to believe that you never tried climbing out of your crib.
2. You love princesses. Elsa and Anna, Mulan, Sopia the First, etc.
3. Your an expert when it comes to navigating YouTube. Somehow you always find show that involves the above princesses.
3. You always want to wear dresses.
Favorite blue dress. You only like dresses that work with twirling.
Anna Dress. Let you wear it out because it was your birthday.
4. You absolutely love your "little Bro".
5. We still have to feed you at dinner or else you wouldn't eat too much.
6. Your best friend from school is Peyton "Grace" Swisher.
7. After story time and right before lights out you always want to play Footsie Monster. Everyone takes turns stomping their way to the bedroom and tickle and eat the others footsie in bed.

You tell me I'm your best friend and I truely believe you mean it with all your heart, which makes me the happiest girl in the world or as you would say "kindom". I hope this will always remain true.

No More PACI!!!

For the past 2 nights you went to bed without your paci. Today I sent you to school without your paci for nap time. Walking into school this morning we told all your teachers and even the front desk receptionist, Kacey. They were all very excited for you. I could tell you were so proud of yourself. This is huge! Just 2 weeks ago you were going to bed with 2 pacis, one to suck on and the other to rub your nose with. Man, you loved those things.

We have been telling you that big girls don't sleep with pacis, and we'll get you a "big dress" aka princess dress if you don't need your pacis anymore. Your reply "like Elsa's, with a cape". You are very into the movie Frozen,  and Sofia the First, you're a girly, girly. You like your hair braided sometimes like Elsa, with one braid and sometimes like Anna, with 2 braids.

I'm one proud mom. This, to me is a reflection of your easy going nature.

Sweetest Ba Bae

Today we went swimming at the Hyatt by Ba Ba's office. One of the perks of working at a fancy office building, is having access to the nice pool. I took my wedding bands off to apply more sunblock and forgot to put them back on and left.

I was telling Ba Ba what happend and you overheard and asked "What happen mama?" You asked about 10 times and I explained that I took them off to put on sunblock and forgot to put them back on. After "10th time" I told you, I didn't want to talk about it anymore because I'm sad. That night like clockwork you wanted to go "pooppies" after we put you down for bed, so after taking you to the bathroom to go "pooppies", told you I had a really nice day and we may go swimming again tomorrow. You replied "mama we'll find ring and you'll be happy". That was over the top sweet. You seem to always remember what we talked about earlier in the day and polish the night off with something relating. You are so smart. Stay sweet my JoJo Beans.

Ba Ba usually sets a glass of water next to yours, on top of the nightstand, just in case we need it when reading you bedtime stories. He forgot the other night and you pointed out that I didn't have water. I jokingly said "that's not nice of Ba Ba" and you in turn offered me yours. After putting you down you called out "pooppies" so you can go and use the potty. It's funny that you always poop in your diaper and then you call out "pooppies" and then go to the potty to finish pooping. Ba Ba took you to the potty, so you can finish up, and I guess you kept repeating "that's not nice Daddy" and he didn't know why. You are a funny one!

Potty Time

Jo Beans, is potty trained and the best part is we didn't really even try! She started telling us that she needed to pee, so we went with it. We bought her a Costco sized, individually wrapped, Fruit Chews as "special treats" and new as Jo would call it "underpants".

Not AGAIN, JoJo!

I received a call from Ms. Sarah, saying that you put two peas up your nose at lunch and she was only able to get one out. I went to your class prepared with tweezers and as soon as I arrived, the assistant teacher told me she was able to get the second one out of your nose. She also said that she found about 20 peas in your pocket. For snacking later? Around 4 o'clock I recieved another call from Sarah, stating that she was able to get another pea out of the SAME nostril but a fourth one is still in there. 4 peas in one nostril?!! I didn't even think to check for more peas! Luckly, your dad and I was able to suck out the last pea at night. A big thank you to SnotSucker!

What's Stuck in Your Nose?

After lunch I saw I had a missed call so I called the number back, it was your teacher Ms. Sarah on the other line. She told me not to worry she got the corn out of your nose. She said that during lunch you pointed to your nose and said "nose" a couple of times but not till clean up time did she realize that that was not a boogie in your nose but a piece of corn from your mixed veggies. Too funny! Ms. Sarah finally got it out by pressing down on that nostril. It doesn't help that you don't know how to blow your nose.

UPDATE- That night after your bath I was putting your diaper on and saw what looked like a big boogie up your right nostril, I held your left nostril close and asked you to blow and when you did another kernel of corn popped out onto your stomach! I'm not sure it that was more shocking then you proceeding to cry "my corn, my corn" when I threw the corn away.

My Baby Girl is 2!

JoJo Beans
you are now 2 and I'm just blown away at how quickly you moved from infant, baby, to toddler. You definitely are showing your colors. You are sweet just like your Baba. I've been coughing for the last 3 days and every time you hear it you say "bless you" and give me pats on the back. You are hilarious. Very often you start gibbering about something and you start laughing at yourself, and then end with waving your hands at your face and shaking your head like "I can't believe how funny i am." You still like to pretend to want to share your treats with us and pull away and stuff it into your mouth, that usually ends up with you laughing. You love "Safe and Sound" from Capital Cities. We watch it after your bath time and before you go to sleep. We usually have to tell you "2 times JoJo" before we put it on TV or else you will keep saying "mo mo". After the second time watching it, you'll say "two".

You are not an angel all the time, when those random tantrums hit it can make us bonkers! You tell Baba to "go" when he wants to join us on the bed. When you put the wrong shoes on your feet and I try to switch them, that usually gets you huffing.

We had planned for your birthday party to be at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach, but that fell though. Baba went a hour early to save a table but it was packed due to Sunday football and beer week so we just ended up having it at the house. Your guests included: Uncle Adam, Aunt Nympha, the Tarr's, and Mouer's.

DAYCARE at SDSU Children's Center

JoJo Beans, Until you have your own baby(ies) you'll never know the flood of joy (the kind that brings tears to my eyes) being proud of someone really feels like. Today a HUGE breakthrough occured during morning drop off. You have been going full time for 2 weeks now and everyday at dropoff I need to find a teacher and do a hand off. Today Little One, I held you in my arms, told you I had to leave for work, and set you down on the ground next to an assistant! You didn't complain and when I left the room I watched you interact with that assistant and my heart was smiling. Everyday there's something you do that blows my mind...I know what you're thinking...I need to get out more...but you have no idea how mezerizing you are. Let me try to recount the ways. 1. You're now consistantly using a spork (spoon/fork) when eating. When you're having problems picking up food in your bowl you cheat, and put the food on the spork with your other hand and shovel the food into your mouth that way. You alway then look towards us for cheers. 2. You're dancing. 3. Obession with lotion and Qiaohu, you say "Ko?" always with a question.

KISSES

Beans you are the sweetest little baby...must get it from your Daddy. This past week you have been walking up to me and planting literally, lip smacking kisses on my legs, arms, anywhere you can put your lips on. It's the best thing in the world; well until the next best thing you do. Yesterday, when I got home from work, you decided you wanted to plant kisses on the tops of my feet. Where do you come up with these ideas?

You now can tell me the sounds of what different animals make. Cow, Cat, Sheep, Dog, Duck, Pig, Lion.

I'm now able to pull your hair back into pigtales. It's so so cute. I think it takes your cuteness to a higher level!

And OFF She Goes

Today is JoJo's second day at SDSU's Children's Center. We're preparing her for ma's departure in August, so we put her in two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday). It's insane! For 2 days of care it's costing us $704 but once August rolls around she'll be considered a toddler and the price drops to $1072 for full time.

Luckly, me, ma, and Joshua had sat in with Ms. Sarah Spears four times prior to the first day so she was familiar with the kids and teachers. First day was like today, painless. You went from being in my arms to going over to Ms. Sarah's.  It's a small class of 6 with pretty much equal ratio of adults and students.

The teacher reported that on your first day you ate all your breakfast and lunch and even slept for 1.5 hours. She patted your back and you were asleep within 20 mins. This make me so proud!

Update

Today you had your first fever 102.5. You probably got it when we visited your daycare the other day. When I got home you said "Ma Bao". Your first sentence and it was "Mom hold me". It melted my heart. Just thinking about puts a smile on my face.

Back to Blogging

Yikes! Its been well over a year since my last entry...had big plans for this blog. Right now you and mommy are sitting in the parking lot of the North University Library (La Jolla). Why you wonder? Well because u fell a sleep on the drive here to meet your friend Linnea, who's mommy is Wendy, who I met on Meetup.com. Chinese story time is now over and you're still catching your zzzzz's. You did not acquire my napping skills. Till this day your dad, Wei Po, and I have to walk the neighborhood to get you to nap. Once asleep we leave you out in the front porch till you wake up. Your naps are usually a hour to a hour and half long. never to long.

You're almost a year and a half. You're a sweet, smart, funny little girl that brings so much joy to us, that at times I'm afraid to say it out loud. I need to try better in sharing more stories and events on this blog so I don't forget the small moments that make me love being a mom.

I've emailed myself some "baby updates" so I'm going to try to back date some of the stories I have from the past year plus.

Jojo started to say Gao and it sounds perfect. This is her fifth clear Chinese word.
1st ba
2nd ma
Cheese
Shi shi

Last night of Breastfeeding

It has been 17 months since your birthday and this also marks the last night of breastfeeding. I never would have imaged me doing it this long but only after becoming a mom do I realize "never say never".  So stopping was not a planned event....4/11/13 was a Thursday night and on Friday our friends Bill and Heather finally had a babysitter so we decided to meet them out for dinner at Ponce's and had Wei Po put you down for bed. That was probably the 2nd time that your dad and I didn't put you down.

The following nights you went digging in my shirts and I just told you no and gave you the sippy cup instead. You didn't protest much at all so weening you has been a lot easier than I expected. At that point I think you were just latching on to sooth yourself and not drinking much because I never became engorged or needed to pump.

I was sad the first week just because this marks another big milestone of you moving out of "baby" and into the "toddler" category. I love you and you're alway be my little  Bao Bae!

Temper Temper

You have now started clenching both hands together and putting them in air when frustrated. The first time I saw this was when Lou stole your cheese out of your hand. We have been giving you Babybel cheese and string cheese.

Last week is when you started stomping your feet when you became mad. You don't get frustrated too often but when you do it's usually because something was taken away from you. I think your dad is becoming quite nervous because you may have gotten my "bad attitude". We'll see....

Also this week you started repeating thank u in Chinese. It's the cutest and sweetest thing I have every heard! Shay Shaee.
